Prisoners Privileges:
Subject to security and discipline of Prison, the prisoner shall be entitled of following privileges during confinement:
- Using the Library
- Receiving Visits
- Audio Calls
- Video Calls
- Receiving Letters
- Sending Letters
- Conjugal Visit
- Musical Programs
- Indoor Games
- Outdoor Games
- Walk
- Food from Private Sources
- Cook food at their own inside prison
- Any other privileges as may be prescribed under Regulations
- Personal Grooming Items
- Own Furniture
- Electric Cattle
- Microwave Oven
- Musical Instrument
- LED / LCD Television or electronic entertainment or learnig device
- Watching movies in Prison cinema in association;
- Involvement in social Activity
- Long term or short term authorized absence other than authorized absence on his own medical grounds or to attend funeral ceremony
As delineated in the Sindh Prisons & Corrections Service Act of 2019, Rule No. 771, governs the privileges afforded to prisoners within correctional facilities, subject to the overarching principles of security and discipline. During their confinement, prisoners are entitled to a comprehensive range of privileges aimed at upholding their dignity and facilitating their rehabilitation into society upon release. These privileges encompass various aspects of daily life, including access to educational resources such as libraries, opportunities for familial connection through visits and correspondence via audio and video calls, and the receipt and sending of letters. Additionally, prisoners are afforded avenues for personal development and recreation, with provisions for engaging in musical programs, indoor and outdoor games, and leisurely walks. Furthermore, prisoners are permitted to possess personal grooming items and furniture within their cells, alongside amenities such as electric kettles, microwave ovens, and even musical instruments. They may also access electronic entertainment and learning devices, including LED/LCD televisions. The privileges extend to communal activities, involvement in social endeavors, and the option to receive food from private sources or prepare their meals within the prison premises. Moreover, the regulations provide for authorized absences for specific reasons, excluding medical grounds or attendance at funeral ceremonies. Any further privileges deemed necessary for the well-being and rehabilitation of prisoners are prescribed under the regulations, ensuring the equitable treatment and humane conditions of incarceration.
